Ain't It Funny
by Ron Peacock

Ain't if funny how this life we lead turns out in the end
We're always looking forward to what's around the bend
Blinded with expectations and bound by social chains
We're never sure just who we are, we get caught up in the game.

The path well worn and traveled is the safest one to take
But if you always follow, how much progress can you make?
Caught up in the stampede of the herd mentality
You lose the only thing you own, that's your individuality

So remember who you are
And remember don't give in.
Don't play the game of give and take
They'll never let you win.
Seize the day, blaze a new path,
let the chips fall where they may,
If they like you so much the better,
if they don't, send them on their way.

Ain't it funny, ain't it funny ... what's around the bend?

Yeah, it strikes me kinda funny
When they say the things they do
With self-righteous indignation
They know what's best for you.

So choose the path less traveled and strive to do your best
Don't surrender to temptations to be like all the rest
Even in times of failure, you'll still have victory
You made all the choices, you're not caged you're flying free.

And remember who you are
And remember don't give in
Don't play the game of give and take
They'll never let you win.
Seize the day, blaze a new path,
let the chips fall where they may,
If they like you so much the better,
if they don't, send them on their way.

Ain't it funny, ain't it funny ... what's around the bend?
